.dat file in VCD is already mpeg1 format.
copy the .dat file to harddisk and change it to .mpg file is ok, this mpg file can be read by all video player.
Vcdcutter can also extract vcd to mpg, the difference between copying .dat file and use vcdcutter is just the file header is not the same, but the quality is the same.
TMPGEnc and VirtualDub need to re-encode the video, causing drop of quality and waste time.
