Currently looking to buy one, but not really sure which. At first I wanted the Panasonic GF1 but then I decided that it doesn't look nice for a guy to be holding a small camera like that twiddling with the lens. So I've been looking at Canon 500D, which seems to be quite popular, and Nikon 5000 which is quite similar so I'm not too sure. Both seem to be quite old models, though.

you have to check your budget la and how often you will change the lens.
Honestly, if you often change the lens, you better select the D90 or 500D.
If you use it as a snap shot cam, you can consider GF1.
