dont' know if there's any baseball fans here
but still gonna ask

what's your pick for the 1st round
here are my picks:

National League:

Astro over Braves (astro's pitchers are too insane, andruw jones, good luck)

Cardinals over Padres (sorri padres...with those sluggers in the cardinals
lineup...it doesn't matter if you have the best strikeout pitcher in the
                              league)

American League:

Angels over Yankees (simply one of those that don't like New York Yankees)

Red sox over White sox (red sox won't have any problem until they have to play the NL rule,
no DH, or of coz...they might run into the yankees if they beat
                                  angels)

really really dont' know if there's any baseball fans here
but really really interested in seeing them here
speak up
for the sport that u like

btw, old bros
hero3's back
been busy recovering from surgery
will try to bring so good non soccer post back for some of the non soccer fans bro
(don't get mei wrong, i love soccer, just i dont' know enough to post)

Thanks for your news in MLB

支持Braves
雖然明知輸既機會好大
不過andruw jones大勇
係今屆NL 既MVP大熱之一
希望Braves 有佢同chipper jones 幫助下
有機會突圍

wow
yes!!!
found a fan

bro srfqt1
chipper jone is no longer in his prime
i dont' think he'll be the difference of the series

i would have to say the andruw jone is having the season of his career
however...the bullpen of the astro is simply too crazy
having that many cy youngs or cy youngs gonna be...i would have to agree with u that 輸既機會好大

but astro will have to be very very careful with the starters selection
for if they use their Ace's up too early, and sweep the braves (hope not), and the cardinals do the same thing...then...they'll be in trouble
so i don't think that they'll use their max power (bullpen) against the braves...
but...i still think it's gonna be 3-1 astro

how abt AL???
any picks???

c'mon in baseball fans
speak up

I like the Astros but I don't think the Rockets can do it alone
Angels may break loose this year ... it is simply too hard to repeat so I don't think the Red Sox can do it this year

AND I HATE THE YANKS TOO SO SCREW THEM
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-5 02:56 AM

haha

YES!!! NO YANKs

i would have to say if the angels can pass the yanks
then they probably would go all the way as well
(AL for sure)(Vladimir Guerrero is my fav. player at the moment.  battingglove-less, soooo cool)
(i bat w/o gloves too)

but cardinals THREEs are always a thread
(will scott be back???)
pujols IS the best hitter in baseball now
but if it's just him, it won't be enough
(i like him alot too, but V Guerrero plays defence, which is very important for mei)

btw, cardinals are leading by 8 - 0
dont' think the padres should even bother....
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-5 08:47 AM

National League:
Astro sweep the Braves (Looking at the starting pitching...I feel sorry for the Atlanta fans..they are so unlucky)

Cardinals sweep the Pardres (Pardres are 2 games over .500. Are you kidding me?)

American League:

Angels over Yankees (this one can go to the distance...but the Yankees are hyperextented by their rivalary with the BoSox...)

Red sox over White sox (again this one can go into distance...Manny has to step up from his inconsistancy and the time has come for Ortiz to shine!)

The October Hunt is on!

Let us make this thread a baseball playoff filter-004ion...even though there are only a few of us here....

At least baseball here is better than hockey...I don't think anyone (except a couple and the moderators) knows the game at all....

sigh...
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-5 09:09 AM

Looks like the BoSox took a pounding by the ChiSox....and the Astros shows the boys from San Diego how to play baseball.
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-5 11:48 AM

sd has nothing to show for
in fact that division kinda sucks, not as exciting as AL east
but then we always see the same teams making the playoffs in AL east

my pick for world series is cards/astros and yanks (tho i dun like them at all but yanks will make sure they will get the job done), but for the champ, i'll pick the cards.

btw i really like baseball and down for making a thread dedicating to baseball.

i'm soooo happy to see a few of baseball buddies here

and yes
let's keep this post "alive"

Oct 5:

Cardinal 1 - Padres 0
- this is gonna be the most one sided match up for this yr, once again it shows that numbers
lie.  .500 team will always be a .500 team.  Sandres 6 RBI's game was gr8

Yankee 1 - Angels 0
- darn it, angels lost.  i can tell that there isnt' alot of NY fans here, but this one is far from over
王建民 is pitching for the yankees tonight, let's see how good this CHINESE man is (yes,
chinese, not taiwanese, coz taiwan is not a country)

Red Sox 0 - White Sox 1
- what the heck was that, who isn't suprised here.  14 -2 loss, red sox, betta figure sth out
wells will be pitching...but he's not doing good these days, good luck

Astro 0 - Braves 0
- it was a sluggfest when these 2 teams played last yr, but this yr it's gonna be on pitching and
defence.  Andruw Jones 51 homerun season's over yet??? or it's just a beginning???(o^.^o)

just like gretzky bro said (good luck finding hockey fans here.  it might be possible, see!!! i've found you guys):  "the HUNT is ON"!!!
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-6 06:35 AM

Guys, I have to say this match up is one I am looking forward to: Clements vs. Smoltz.
I never like both very much, but Smoltz is so underrated as a player I think he deserves a win over Clements this time around. Smoltz may not have the fast ball anymore, but his sliders are still wicked.

Here's a clip from mlb.com

ATLANTA -- Six years of waiting and anticipating are about to end for John Smoltz.
One of the games most gritty, gutsy performers in baseball will return to the mound in a postseason game on Thursday. But this time, the 38-year-old isn't taking the ball out of the bullpen. The veteran right-hander is making his first playoff start since the Braves dropped Game 4 of the 1999 World Series to the Yankees.

As fate would have it, Smoltz's return to starting comes against the same buzzsaw he ran into six years ago, Roger Clemens.

This time the setting is different.

Smoltz squares off against Clemens in Game 2 of the National League Division Series at Turner Field.

"Believe me, the anticipation is what kills me," Smoltz said. "I have more fun in these ballgames than I have in any games I pitch. That's not going to be an issue. The issue is going to be, 'Will I be able to come out from the start and contain that adrenaline?' I've learned how to do that in my later years. With us being at home, and the idea of being with this club, you have to keep it close. With this baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, your chances of pulling out a win a great."

After 3 1/2 years of being an elite closer,b Smoltz had a triumphant return to a starting role this season. As the ace of a suddenly youthful Atlanta club, which has eight rookies in the playoffs, Smoltz posted a 14-7 record with a 3.06 ERA. His tired right arm, and worn shoulder, logged 229 2/3 innings.

The reason manager Bobby Cox opted to use Smoltz in Game 2 and Tim Hudson in Wednesday's series opener was predicated on the fact Hudson is fresher. The Braves feel more comfortable using Hudson in a decisive fifth game.

But Cox pointed out on Wednesday that the club hasn't ruled out the option of using both on short rest. Should the situation dictate, Cox didn't rule out going with Hudson in Game 4 and Smoltz in Game 5.

Still, there is a bit of concern about how many innings are left in Smoltz's right shoulder.

Asked if Smoltz could bounce back on short rest, Cox said frankly: "I can't answer that. John says he feels great right now to go in his first start. After that, quite honestly, we're not sure. We think he can. The one reason I'm pitching Huddie in Game 1 is so that he can pitch Game 5 -- not knowing if John could actually go."

With tunnel vision this time of year, Smoltz approaches any playoff start as if it is his last.

"Basically, I don't think about my next start, come tomorrow. I think tomorrow is my last start. That's the way I approach it," Smoltz said. "I never do that in the regular season."

With a 14-4 playoff record, Smoltz has more wins than any pitcher in postseason history. Houston's Andy Pettitte entered Wednesday's contest at 13-8 in the playoffs.

Thursday will mark the 27th postseason start for Smoltz.

When he faced Clemens in the 1999 World Series, Smoltz gave up three runs in seven innings, suffering the loss. Clemens gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings that day, as the Yankees closed out the series with a 4-1 victory.

In Smoltz's eyes, if you were to play mad scientist and build an ideal pitcher, Clemens would be the model.

"If you had to clone somebody on their mechanics and their power and their ability to throw the ball where they want to, he's the guy, as far as I'm concerned," Smoltz said of The Rocket. "Basically when you get into the playoffs, names are one thing and credentials are another. He has both. You know you're not going to get too much room to work with.

"My thoughts are, 'I better be on my game.' I think Game 4, the last time we hooked up in the World Series, he certainly was on his. ... Age is not a factor right now. I think we both pitch with our hearts and guts, and go after guys. Obviously, he has some hardware that proves it and speaks for itself."

Clemens returned the praise to Smoltz.

"He's special, also," Clemens said of his counterpart. "Coming from him, and how hard he's worked his way back, many times, tells me all I need to know about him and his tenacity and his pain tolerance."

4.        Mike Mussina        125 1/3        134
5.        Randy Johnson        108        124
Smoltz certainly is pushing his pain tolerance. Admittedly, he's not 100 percent, but he points out no one is this time of year.

Down the stretch, the Braves eased Smoltz's workload to get him ready for the postseason.

At what level health is his arm right now?

"That brings me back to my school days," Smoltz said. "I'd like to stay away from an A-minus, so somewhere between an A-minus and an A-plus. My control shouldn't be an issue. I've been down this road so many times before. The adrenaline is going to be incredible this time. You just can't duplicate it. You can't go through any regular-season game like this."

I love when the Joness hit HRs in a same game
too bad hudson didnt' show
and too wild for the game

and DID any of the brother watch the redsox game
hahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhaa
i think Tony Graffanino is dead (haha, through legs tim...hahahahahha)
a double play turns into a basehit followed with a 3 runs HR...sigh...
i smell bench time for tony (no more resigning sigh)

the ball game that i actually sat and watched was the Yankees-Angels game
and i saw all that bunting, wow, it was good textbook baseball
too bad 王建民 was the one that made that error
oh well
no yanks nooooo

bro srfqt1
suen la
your jones brothers hit a pair of HRs
so ok gum la
sigh...next match..."the rocket" vs smoltz
should be an interesting game (defence-wise) as bro gretzky said
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-7 02:05 PM

Well, guess what?

Clements screwed up so badly (5 earned runs) and Smoltz really smoked the Astro boyz! Chipper did it with his glove (and hands) and Jones did it with his bat!

I liked the comment made by Smoltz by the end of the game...he said whatever people said about this Atlanta team...at least today they are the best. And indeed this is so true. If Smoltz pitches like that...who knows.

I still think Astros will win the series (3-1) but this game is worth saving it in our memory.

St. Louis vs. SD
-this one is pretty much over...the Cardinals totally dominated the game...and they are not even at their peak. (Sweep)

Boston vs. Chicago
-Red Sox will rebound in game 3, but the bullpen may not be able to hold the lead. You have to pray that the starting pitching will go to the distance at least in Game 3 or Game 4.
(ChiSox in 4)

Yankees vs. Angels
-this is more like October baseball, close game and lots of drama....hard to call at this point. But with A Rod's bat sleeping...the Yankees better wake him up or....
(Angels in 5)
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-7 11:51 PM

bro srfqt1
your braves did pretty well last night
heck of a ball game
very very entertaining
i sure hope that it's gonna be a close series
but...but...astro still saving up an ace...does Oswalt ring a bell for anyone

STL vs SD :  oh...it's not over yet...oops...

RSox vs Wsox:
wakefield will be pitching for redsox...his knucklecurve is freaky...BUT his game is like ur bat disappear OR it jack after jack after jack, coz wakefield doesnt' have a 90+ 4seam fast ball in his arsenal

Yank vs Angels:
i would have to say it's pretty interesting over there, the only unpredictable out come
but randy johnson is on the mount tonight, the "big unit" dont' take 16 millions for nth...
we'll see we'll see

by the way
where are u guys from
get more of your 26fun buddies or real friends in here man
our post is getting kicked down, almost out of the first page (o^.^o)

do u guys play???

just a little update bosox got swept by the white sox
damon was sobbing during the interview that's too embarrassing anyway

and yanks are on the verge of losing as they are down 2-1
i'd be happy if they lose but something tells me that yanks are gonna crawl back but i hope i'm wrong. I think the angels are a pretty solid team that deserves to be in the next round.

i'm from vancouver btw, i don't play real baseball, just catch and throw type of thing but i'm trying to learn the grips of different pitches just for fun ... but never really worked out.
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-9 01:08 PM

hey windowpane bro
welcome to our clan
it's good to know that u watch

as for playing
this is a very very tricky sport to start
coz u'll need to have enough ppl to run a team
otherwise u can't really learn
last yr, i was done with the days with only catch, so i put a team together
with a bunch of newbies
didn't do very well in the regular season, but won the championship in the 2 days tournament
haha

so if u really wanna to learn the sport
get 4, 5 of experienced friends (this is tricky for chinese brothers)
then try to run a team with friend that don't know
teach them the sport
so they'll be your practice buddies (o^.^o)
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-9 01:19 PM

the yankees and angels game was crazy last night
it was packed with hits and good baserunning
i was impressed
(go angels go, my AL pick)

the Cardinals are leading by 7-2 at the moment at bottom 6th
Padres have no chance
sorri for the fans
williams gave up like 2-3 runs in the 1st 2 innings...sigh...
no flame

and the yanks game got rained out this afternoon
which is good for the angels
for last game they really worked their bullpen abit
now they got more rest

missed the astro braves game this afternoon
but on papwer
as i predicted...oswalt....7.1 inning pitched, 7 ks, 6H only, 3ER
sigh
andruw jones' hot bat wasn't enough
and it was biggios 3 doubles that stole the thunder
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-9 01:50 PM

wow
Padres are hitting HR over HR
7-4 now
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-9 11:31 PM

Well guys,

Seems like the pictures are clearer now...
1. St. Louis swept (as expected)
2. ChiSox killed BoSox (a little surprised)
3. Astros one win away (but I say the Braves will bite back to force game 5 extra innings)
4. Angels 2-1 over Yanks (the rain delay yesterday gave the Yanks some advantage...it took the momentum away from the Angels...hope the Westcoast boys can take it away though)

I never played baseball. My experience are pretty much with the recreational leagues. I can only throw a 60mile fast ball and a slider....since my arm isn't that strong  I am limited to pitching and infield work.
作者: srfqt1    時間: 2005-10-9 11:37 PM

Astros 班 PITCHERS實在太強啦>.<
唯有希望game 4 Hudson會有番正常既表演啦
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-10 09:59 AM

wow
what a long game that braves vs. astro
and CLEMENT came in to relief
i was soooo suprised
now they'll have to rest him til at least gm3 for SL series

angels are up by 2-1 now
this game is pretty good too
i really cant' tell who's gonna win anymore

(for some reason...the white sox looks pretty good all the sudden)
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-10 02:09 PM

18 innings! What a game! And Clements did his stuff again.

St. Louis vs. Houston: this is possibly the World Series outside the World Series. Both teams got awesome pitching and timely hitting....I say this will go to the distance.

Well..how about those Yankeees....destiny!.....a comeback win for them.....now the momentum has shifted and Game 5 is tomorrow.

實在奇兵一路
可能佢地NO 3 PICTHER OSWALT其實都等於其他球隊既NO 1 PICTHER

But that gamble could cost the Astros down the road.

Most starting pitchers need 4-5 days rest between starts. Now with his 'relief' perfomances Clements is not available until Game 3 of the NLCS. (push back by one game)

But then again the Astros' starting 5 are so strong...and the only team that can topple them is the Cardinals.

Should be interesting!

helping to bump this thread

hey everyone, glad to see we have some baseball maniacs around.

astros game was a killer and can't wait til the rematch again. Well last year they got this guy called beltran who homered and drove in rbis like a mvp. This year they have to hope guys like ensberg to do a similar job offensively. It's gonna be an exciting pitching matchup to watch too. It's pettitte going against carpenter for gm1, well it's even more exciting if it's oswalt and carpenter, pettitte and mulder, clemens and morris, backe and suppan, rodriguez and marquis. It's my probable starters haha but i think they won't plan their rotations like that anyway. They will probably use one of their starting 3 twice.

for the angels series i really hope my prediction is wrong, really wanna see yanks losing again lol. I really dislike the team since day 1 in part cuz of their free spending habit and how ignorant the non baseball fans are to fall in love with the yanks just cuz their hat says NY. So yanks, keep wasting money on aging stars and keep losing. I like how the fans booed randy johnson btw lol.

yay yanks are counter-cursed by bosox fans now lol

let's pick who's gonna win ALCS
i like chisox's chance
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-11 02:15 PM

Well said windowpane!

The Jays fan cursed the BoSox. The BoSox fans cursed the Yanks. And I bet the Yanks will curse the Angels.

ChiSox are well rested. And they have to guns to out pitch the Angels (Remember, pitching always outweight hitting in post season).

I say ChiSox in 6.

I look at Astros and Cardinal series as the BoSox vs. Yankees last year...this will be the one to watch.

Cardinals in 7.

Let's put our predictions out!
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-11 11:17 PM

What are your predictions?
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-13 11:54 AM

hey all
umm...
go online and try to watch the replay of the angels and sox gm 2...
it was a joke....
gave them a free base
then a rbi double that cause angels the game
dam* it

my prediction was angels win it all (vs. SL)

sigh...
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-13 05:56 PM

my predictions for fun are chisox in 7 and cards in 6

chisox and the halos are supposed to have a very tight series. But konerko and everett should step up and start jacking homers or collecting hits cuz so far their pitching is fine even they lost the first one but only by 1 run. Of coz same thing can be said about the angels when guerrerro and anderson aren't contributing as much (tho anderson did hit a HR but nothing to show for after that). I still like the chisox's chance nevertheless cuz to me they have slightly better pitching and their 8th and 9th guy can be the factor of this series.

cards in 6 cuz i still believe the edmonds pujols walker sanders combo is deadly, and eckstein often surprises ppl. Someone from the astros need to step up offensively cuz when berkman ensberg and lamb aren't hitting they lose a lot of gunpower. Keep an eye on Burke tho he just hit another HR today he might become another killer B lol.
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-14 02:24 AM

u're very nice to give the astro 2 wins
i smile a sweep at the NLCS

ALCS
what the hack was that
what kinda of call was that
did u guys see that the ump already stick his fist out and call the batter out
but...............i am sooooo pissed
i love the angels sooooo much
and F.Rod picked up that loss...he's my fav. closer (all 25 under team)

i'm starting a post abt MLB umping, or umping!!!
see u guys there

pls do keep this post alive tho

'officiating' 呀! Hero :-)

I still think this is the year of the Cardinals...Tony Larussa will win his last crown as the manager.
Cardinals in 6

With that kind of crappy officiating, anything can happen to the the ChiSox/Angels series. I still believe ChiSox will put it off in 7. But whoever wins the series will have no juice left for the Cardinals.

i dunno, like if the league adopts the video replay, then it's kinda saying the umpires aren't professional enough to call plays. I know other major leagues have already established the video replay cuz it really gives fairness to the teams and fans. But then on the other hand it takes away the prestige of the officials/umpires. It sort of means their decisions won't stand at times.

But again, those miscalls just piss ppl off often times. I just read the article on mlb.com on these fatal miscalls that switched the momentum between teams. So overall the video replay can improve the game but i think that stupid selig guy won't do anything like he's been into these kinda situations before back in the 90's and nothing's been done.

edit: just to be on topic, i 'gave' the astros 2 wins cuz after all they have stellar pitching and there should be one or couple games that their hitters are hitting or outhit the cards. Just to be conservative.

Of course! I have been busy coaching lately..

Back to the baseball topic, Bug Selig is a coward and a jerk. He is not going to do much with the video replay. You have to remember the guys owns the Brewers and can only think from the owners' point of view. Baseball is a business...major business.

Baseball is a special sport in the States. It has a certain tradition and royalty attach to it...to put video replay in it is absolute insult to the die hard fans.

I don't think we are going to see video replay in baseball...

and the Angels will rebound...
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-14 02:55 PM

astros have rebounded btw lol

maybe we should start a hockey thread since the season's just started.
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-14 09:12 PM

it looks like we'll have a interesting month of oct

as i've mentioned in the other post
i'm totally FOR no replays
for baseball is a game of tradition as bro grez had mentioned
and personal think that they are the hardest umpires to be (or ref. whatever)

for them to introduce replay that will affect the calls will totally kill the game
(haha, not all the changes in sports are good for the sport, look at NHL)

back on yesterdays game
i thought that wild pitch killed the game for the card.
despite of jim edmund's typical fly and catch
and the astro finally realize that lance berkman is not good enough to be the CF of important series, personally i think that change might let the astro to take it to gm7 (but Cards. will still advance)

as for hockey talks
sorri bro...soccer (non-national) and hockey are the pop. sport that mei doesnt' watch
but i'll try to support u guys when it's started
(btw, hockey is funner to watch these days, i like most of the rule changes except the goalie can't go behide thingE)
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-15 12:37 AM

A side topic here :-)

Goals are up from 4.5 to 6.2 in the first 53 games of this young NHL season. I feel like we are living in the 80s when Gretzky and his Oilers ruled Lord Stanley's mud!
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-15 05:30 PM

ya true about the constant changes in the nhl. It's obvious that they are doing this based on their business perspective, well of coz it smoothens the game up, and more goals scored is gonna attract more tix sales. So ya I dunno, it looks still a bit awkward to me to see the dmen ricochetting the puck all the way up front to forwards and creating a breakaway. It's like taking a rule away like when I play nhl05 and switch off 2 line passes lol. But no doubt that it's exciting. Nevertheless if they decide to switch back to the old system I'm ok with it too.

i didn't watch the chisox game today but i know lackey got his ass raped so it's like each team wins one game at a time now haha. Anyone had any comments on that particular game? On the NLCS, the astros should move berkman to RF he's too fat for a CF haha i think he now can't climb up to that little hill towards the end of the centerfield to dive for flyballs. He's a decent OF but I sense a bit of declining in his ability just my personal thought.

ok I'm gonna start a nhl thread and let's chat hockey there haha.

Well said brother...

Astros and Cards game on now...!
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-16 09:12 AM

Well...it was a good game...Astros surprised me by clinically dismantled  the Cards...even though they got a scare in the 9th!

ChiSox and Angels game on now...but I have to be out there for dinner...
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-16 12:10 PM

ya the cards just weren't able to score 1 more run to tie it too bad. You know the guy who caught burke's homers twice gave the balls back to clemens so they'll be stored in the fall of fame. That guy's got good hands haha.

chisox dominated the angels btw. Konerko jacked a 3 run baby just like what he did yesterday in top 1st so it was a deja vu. Then they went cruise control after that i think 8-2 is the final score.
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-16 02:26 PM

I am a bit shock that Angels didn't pitch around Konerko today...and the guys paid dearly for the mistake.

I never like Clements...and he is no more than a greedy baseplayer now....his un-retirement took away the respect I had for him.
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-17 10:49 AM

chisox and angels are tied at 3-3 on top of the 8th

astros are up 3-1 in the NLCS, one game away from completing their redemption lol, i guess a lot of us are 'dropping our glasses' now but the cards might come back
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-17 11:15 AM

The Astro/Cards game sucked. I can't believe the umpire tossed Larussa out! And how about this guys' strike zone? Poor jim edmonds...got call swing-and-miss and later got toss out.....

bad bad bad officiating....
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-18 02:00 AM

One more game guys! Cards will probably kick the Astro's butt today!
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-18 09:37 AM

ya yesterday's calls were bs. What's up with the berkman's at bat when the ball was pitched at the similar spot and the umpire called it a ball. The pregame show actually showed the similar pitch thrown by both cards and astro pitchers but one's being strike and one's being a ball. And edmonds didn't even lift the bat off his shoulder ... so i see what your saying.

cards have to win this one to redeem themselves.

WOW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BROS~~~~~~~~~

PUJOLS~~~~~~~~~~~

tell mei that all my bros watch that game live
it was the craziest thing i've seen
tears came out from my eyes when my fav. batter hit that 3 runs HR

Pujols!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That guy hit the freaking slider/breaking ball!!!!!!!!!
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-18 01:03 PM

he hits everything like Tee ball

too good

i sure hope that they'll go in the the WS
for ...sigh...my angels were killed by that...miss call....
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-19 12:53 AM

Put it this way herothree....Angels did it a couple of years ago.....but the ChiSox hasn't done it for a longgggggg time now....

I hate the Astros anyways....
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-19 09:45 AM

angels basically shut themselves down in this series. Their leader, apparently guerrero, was not hitting and I dunno if he has the charisma to be a leader since he's a very soft spoken person. Don't get me wrong he's a solid hitter but i think every team needs a strong personality to win. Their pitching's fine but the whole batting lineup just sucked. Their first 4 hitters were actually pretty solid on paper but nothing worked out when it came to critical time.

btw i like the chisox aces pic that's on the mlb.com. Garland, Buehrle, Contreras, and Garcia. Like wow what a lineup going into the world series lol.

for nlcs i want the cards win mark mulder has to kick some major ass so the momentum will shift to the cards. I still have faith in the cards.
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-19 01:14 PM

Amen to Windowpane's words!
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-19 02:05 PM

blessing the cards with fingers crossed lol ~
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-19 09:48 PM

wow
u know what
astro's bullpen vs. whitesox starters
haha

but i'm still more interested in someone jacking HRs at the last seconds of the game

i totoally agree with u bro windowpane
guerrero is an action leaders
he's a man with few words (some say NO words)
coz he doesnt' like the camera or sth
i read it once on SI.
but he really didnt' show up for the ALCS (nor the series b4)
lucky that the yankees didn't show up as well...
the problem with this kind of leader is that
once they have an off day or off series...then...they have nth...
no words to remind teamates that they're around

but but but...
i'll have to say that...that "call" really really messed them up bad
it's not an excuse tho
have to bounce back whenever as pros

if if if the NLCS goes to gm7
then it'll be the well rested sox vs. empty tank whoever
dont know if u guys play
but i personally dont' like to rest too much b4 my next game
coz baseball and softball isn't a sport that involves alot of running
therefore u could go on and play 4, 5 games a week
(pitcher is a diff story)
i've pitched once....
took mei 5 days to get rid of the stiffness
anyway
my pt is that the NL should have the more "warmed" batters, but the sox will have a more durable bullpen by then

i wish that both NLCS and WS will go to gm 7
coz u know what
it's hard to invite a whole bunch of friends
when it's gm5, and gm6, coz u dont' know if it would be "it"
ever had that experience b4???
(maybe i'll start a post base on that)

ya i agree with u herothree on the rust after having too many days off. It doesn't only happen for basbeall but other sports too. Having too many days to relax makes the momentum die down. Either for the astros or cards, they are gonna carry on with the spirit going into gm1 of the world series. I think the astros have a decent bullpen, garner often uses this qualls wheeler lidge combo. And i think they haven't used rodriguez yet. They are doubling up oswalt's start and if it goes to gm7 i think the astros would start with pettitte and clemens to relieve, which gives backe and rodriguez available for gm1 of the world series (if possible). Then oswalt will be available for gm2 and so on. For the cards i think prolly morris starts for gm7 and either suppan/marquis to relieve. So gm7 is the best game to watch u see starters relieving. Although I want the cards to win but oswalt's tough to beat, he gives u tons of 95mph fballs and then a 69-72mph curveball, also got good slider.

the pujols last minute hr really cashed in his worth. In fact he's hitting well in the series just that he needs HRs.

and yes gm7 is always do or die so it becomes a reason for us to gather together and watch haha.

one more thing
if the cards lose
then it would be the last game that played at the bush standium
sigh
and last game of larry walker (perhaps)
sigh...

yes indeed it's the last one for the cards

damn the oswalt qualls wheeler combo

hahahhahahaha
MVP mar
he's special

very underated ACE tho
(except in MVP 2005, good ratings)(haha)

oh well
i guess no "colour red" in the WS then...sigh...
(astro has red, but that's not there team colour)

i think i'm gonna go get a nice Astro hat tho
the STAR is very very attractive
(just like the one on converses)(haha)

so brothers

SOX or Astro

mei says Astro in 6 (i hope...)
coz i really dont know ANYTHING abt the WhiteSox
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-21 08:37 AM

Well, I am back...

Larry Walker, the pride of Maple Ridge, British Columbia...has probably played his last game...too bad...

ChiSox will out pitch the hot hitters of the Astros.....I will say ChiSox in 7
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-21 04:17 PM

welcome back gretzky, your team just lost tonight to the nucks lolll ~

too bad for walker he thought he'd get a ring by sticking with the hottest team but it fell short. The cards should rethink about their rotation in the off season. Mulder and Morris are good but not dominating. 4th and 5th pitchers just got outperformed.

besides walker we still have some local pride like morrison from pitt meadows and sakic from burnaby lol but they are from hockey. For baseball i think we can only relate to rich harden? who else's born in bc?

chisox's '4 king' will put on some clinics lol chisox in 6. Not that i hate the astros or anything tho haha.
作者: herothree    時間: 2005-10-23 01:03 PM

sigh...
clements..."ate banana" tonight
and pretend to be injuried tim
sigh...
no comment...

oh well
WS isn't the same w/o fav. teams tho
haha
dont' really care who wins anymore

(but wow...the chisox...are unstoppable)
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-24 11:44 AM

hero and window,

I hope you guys were watching the game live! What a drama again....I thought the Astros would come back and turn the tide....and guess what...

Scott Ponsednia! He never hit a homerun until Sept! And what a shot he hit over the left field!

Lidge got screwed again! What a homerun!

That's such a huge blow...I don't know if the Astros can take two in a week!
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-24 01:03 PM

let's not forget when the stage was set for konerko to hit that jack lol ~ that's my favorite part it seemed as tho it's a drama haha

of coz the posednik hit was a classic too
what happened to lidge he seemed to get quite a few of blown saves lately
was his dominating fastball not dominating anymore? lol ~
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-24 01:37 PM

Again there was a questionable call...the hit by pitch just before Konerko hit that baby....but I guess it was offset by the Astro's 2 run 9th.

Lidge still has his wicked fastball. The weird thing is both Pujols and Posednik hit a good, normally unhittable fast ball from Lidge....that's so freaking strange.

I am still bewildered by the Posednik monster homerun...can't believe it.
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-24 01:49 PM

jenks' got some sick fball too but i think he's still not maturing yet but ya normally lidge's pitches are hard to hit. Posednik's a decent hitter but i still think he just left the bat off his shoulder since he guessed it'd be a high heat or something. Even if it's a braking ball like slider it's got great speed too like near 90. His changeup is like in the low 80s what kinda off speed is that.
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-24 03:36 PM

gee....80 miles changup! That's insane.

I am happy to have a 60 miles fastball these days....can't throw harder than that...
作者: Windowpane    時間: 2005-10-24 04:04 PM

ya that's like randy johnson haha

i'd be happy if i can even throw a proper fastball that a catcher can catch lol ~

let's talk about outfiielders what are some of your fav outfielders? I dun even know who now got the strongest arms. I used to think shawn green, raul mondesi, dave martinez and ichiro got some strong arms. But now I have no idea who got that skill. But in terms of def outfielding i'd say a.jones is amazing. Griffey Jr. used to reign the CF but now his hamstrings just bugging him so bad.

Shawn Green still got his arms (but not his bats). I don't follow baseball to closely now...so I can't tell.
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-27 05:41 AM

I watched the whole thing yesterday...so tired now...just can't believe the Astros left 8 men on base after the 9th inning....

you can't score when you have runners on base...you don't deserve to win.....

The thing can end tonight.....
作者: Gretzky    時間: 2005-10-27 12:20 PM

We did it! Sox swept the Astros!

The Sox did it in such a National League way....hit and run baseball.

sweep sweep sweep ~~~~~ ---------<]
(hope that looks like a broom lol ~)

the drought finally ends today
