Zidane was not famous when he was young, but he was already the key players in his team.
Ronaldino was not famous when he was in Brazil, but he could represent Brazil in World Cup.

Their reputation and class was growing greatly because they transfered from small club to big club, and from lower level league to higher level league... that allows them learn more from other great players.

But ManU is already a big club, and if the players showed they are not good enough to play there, they must leave. Greening, Chadwick.... there are too many examples....
