I am expected someone talked about it since MOnday... I am wondering no one talk about it until now!
That's NO RED CARD for Michael Owen incidnets
There are 7 codes for sending off (Red Cards), in that situation, there maybe 2 codes to apply this "Red card" incident,
1) Serious Foul of play
2) Denying obvious goal scoring opportunties
Normally, referee would be charged the higher codes for any cards, i.e. Violent Conduct is higher than Serious Foul of play, then Serious foul of play is higher than Denying obvious goal scoring opportunties, Denying obvious goal scoring opportunties is higher than 2 bookings of the game.
Let's think J. Carragher fouled Michael Owen,
J. Carragher was not doing serious foul of play, for example, rugby tackle, or elbowing. So that's why referee couldn't count for serious foul of play, Jamie action should be counted at reckless challenge, yellow card.
2nd question, there maybe a chance Michael Owen can have obvious goal scoring opportunties... so referee could send off Jamie Carragher (as I described before, referee would take HIGHER code if a player was occured 2 fouls in 1 action.) However, Michael wasn't facing toward goal, that's why referee, Andre Marriner was doing decision. He couldn't send off Jamie for his foul conduct and book Jamie for his careless, reckless challenge.
I think Andre Marriner did a fair game for both sides and he never did any bias to any sides, otherwise Vidic nor Mascherano couldn't need to send off in their 2nd bookings of the game. I can tell you some referees may not book Mascherano when he was charging Edwin Van Der Saar in last mins of the game.
I didn't watch the game between Arsenal and West Ham Utd, I got no comment about the referee of that game, Chris Foy |
