英國鏡報報導：

NEWCASTLE have won the race to sign Manchester United outcast Alan Smith in a deal worth around ￡3.5million.

Toon boss Sam Allardyce made his move for Smith after the England striker made public his dismay at not being offered a new deal by United.

But Allardyce failed in his bid to make it a United trio at Newcastle after the Old Trafford hierarchy rebuffed his attempts to sign defensive duo Wes Brown and Mikael Silvestre.

Smith revealed his desire to stay at Old Trafford only last week but admitted he had received no assurances about his future from Sir Alex Ferguson, a revelation which sparked a scramble for his signature.

Despite his reluctance to leave United following a ￡7million move from Leeds in 2004, Smith has been assured of regular football at Newcastle under Allardyce, something Fergie could not give him at Old Trafford.

And Smith is said to be relishing the challenge to prove he can get back to the level he was at before breaking a leg at Liverpool in February 2006, which ruled him out for seven months.

A host of Premiership clubs including Tottenham and Aston Villa made clear their interest in signing Smith but Newcastle have won the race.

Richardson could quit United

Manchester United's Kieran Richardson has admitted for the first time that he may have to leave Old Trafford if he is to secure first-team football.

England midfielder Richardson has consistently been connected with a move away from the Premiership champions after failing to hold down a regular place in the United side last season.

The 22-year-old has most recently been reportedly linked with a move to team up with former United skipper, and current Sunderland manager, Roy Keane at the Stadium of Light.

However Richardson has said he will fight for his place in the United team, but has not ruled out a move elsewhere.

"If you're getting older and not playing on a regular basis, you do have to think about moving on," he told the News of The World.

"I've already said I want to carry on being a United player.

"I don't know about going out on loan because I've done that already."

No United bid for Italian

United have not voiced an interest in Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella, according to the player's agent.

The 23-year-old Italian international has been linked with Old Trafford in recent weeks but, although agent Silvio Pagliari claims United are interested, no move has materialised.

Pagliari told BBC Sport: "I know there's some interest from Manchester United. I'm very proud of it, as he is. But United have had no contact with me or with Sampdoria.

"He'd be keen on playing in England, for sure. We have many things to think of, as many big clubs in Italy too are interest in a player like Fabio.

"We can talk about Inter Milan, Juventus, Man Utd, Chelsea - this is no problem for the player as they are all massive clubs."

A host of strikers from across Europe have been linked with United ever since Chief Executive David Gill's admission that the Reds could be tempted into action if the right target became available.

Gabriel Heinze has agreed a top-secret £5million move to Real Madrid. Heinze - a £7million signing from Paris St Germain three years ago - has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the newly-crowned La Liga champions. He will play for Argentina in the Copa America, which finishes on July 15, and then formally swap the red of United for the white of Real. Heinze, 29, is free to negotiate a move because he hasn't been offered a new deal and is over 26 with less than two years left on his current contract. Last season, Heinze's place at left-back was increasingly threatened by the emergence of Patrice Evra.

　　曼聯收購前鋒的前景又變得撲朔迷離起來，此前有消息稱紅魔已經對森多利亞的意大利前鋒基利亞雷拉提出了報價，但日前後者的經紀人卻表示，曼聯尚未有任何實質性接觸。

　　基利亞雷拉的經紀人柏基亞里說：「我知道曼聯對於基利亞雷拉有興趣，我們對此感到很驕傲，但曼聯還沒有和我或者森多利亞進行接觸。」

　　「基利亞雷拉對於去英超踢球很感興趣，這是肯定的，我們有很多事情考慮，因為很多意大利的大俱樂部也對他感興趣。」

　　「我們可以談論國際米蘭、祖雲達斯、曼聯、車路士，沒問題，對於基利亞雷拉來說，這些都是大俱樂部。」

　　現在看來，曼聯在引進前鋒的問題上一直在猶豫，不久前名宿馬卡裡表示，買一個不熟悉的前鋒，不如給現有的人員一些機會，比如羅斯等人。曼聯俱樂部內部似乎也有兩派意見，費格遜在買還是不買之間猶豫，至於下賽季曼聯鋒線上是否會有新人物到來、還是在隊內挖掘潛力，只有時間能給出答案。

曼聯轉向托利斯

　　曼聯在夏季轉會市場上收購前鋒的計劃又有了新的變化，據英國媒體報道，紅魔準備重新開啟對利物浦目標、馬德里體育會前鋒托利斯的收購，這一變化的背景之一是利物浦很難籌集到收購托利斯的資金。

　　據英國的《星期日鏡報》報道，曼聯原本準備收購標價一千萬英鎊左右的意大利前鋒基利亞雷拉，但是烏甸尼斯日前接觸了森多利亞，希望讓基利亞雷拉下賽季為該隊效力，由於意大利前鋒的所有權為森多利亞和烏甸尼斯共有，因此在烏甸尼斯介入後，曼聯收購基利亞雷拉的希望已經變小。

　　費格遜由此將注意力轉向了長期以來的目標托利斯，有消息稱曼聯從三年前就在關注托利斯的成長狀況，後者現在看起來很可能麼離開馬德里體育會，馬體會本賽季沒能打進歐洲賽場，這為托利斯的轉會埋下了伏筆。

Reds get all-clear for Anderson

Brazilian starlet Anderson has been given the go-ahead to join United after being granted a work permit.

The 19-year-old's application was initially rejected given his lack of international experience for the Brazilian national team.

A club spokesman said: "We are delighted to announce our application for Anderson's work permit has been successful.

"We look forward to finalising his transfer from FC Porto in the very near future."

Anderson is tipped to be one of Brazil's future stars, a school of thought backed up by an impressive debut earlier this week, and United's appeal overturned the decision.

He will now join up with Sir Alex Ferguson's squad after taking a holiday following his participation in the Copa America.

Anderson gets Man Utd work permit


Anderson may have to wait before moving to Old Trafford

Brazilian Anderson has been granted a work permit by the Home Office to allow him to play for Manchester United.
The initial application for Anderson's work permit was rejected because he had not played in 75% of Brazil's internationals over the last two years.

But United, who agreed a deal with Porto for the 19-year-old midfielder in early June, have now won their appeal.

United told a six-man panel that only Anderson's youth had prevented him from meeting the set criteria.

They also argued he will bring exceptional talent to the Premier League.

Anderson made his debut for Brazil in their 2-0 Copa America defeat to Mexico on Wednesday.

Anderson said earlier this week: "To join Manchester United at 19 is incredible.

"Everything will be different in England - I know that - but I am certain I will adjust quickly to life in England.

"I am proud - and my family is also. For me, everything is new, it's a dream come true."

His move to United was announced at the same time as Sporting Lisbon youngster Nani, who as a Portuguese citizen has no work permit problems.
